A juvenile tiger shark (Galeocerdo cuvier) is easily identified by the dark stripes on its body. This pattern fades as the shark matures. Tiger sharks can reach 5.5 meters (18 feet) in length. Underwater they are usually not aggressive toward scuba divers. Yet, 101 unprovoked attacks (28 fatal) on humans have been reported as of 2013.
