Sandtiger sharks (Carcharias taurus) are also known as raggedtooth sharks or grey nurse sharks. They have light brown bodies with dark spots. The two dorsal fins are similar in size. The tail fin is extremely asymmetrical. Sandtiger sharks inhabit coastal waters of warm temperate to tropical regions. They can reach 4.3 meters (14 feet) in length. Although their ragged, needle—like teeth give sandtigers a fearsome appearance, no fatal attacks on humans have been reported as of 2023.
